Our Project

Community Supported Agriculture

The Family Farmers Network

ONE OF THE BIGGEST NETWORK OF ORGANIC FARMS

Today, the Network inspired by Équiterre brings together more than 130 organic farms in Quebec and New Brunswick, feeding more than 20,000 families every year (which amounts to nearly 60,000 people), as well as numerous partners who provide convenient basket pickup points.

OUR FARMS

The Family Farmers Network is a network of produce and livestock farms that promotes community-supported organic farming through an organic basket distribution program.

The Family Farmers Network is an exemplary model of ecological agriculture and market proximity

HISTORY

Founded by Équiterre in 1995 on the principles of community supported agriculture (CSA), the Family Farmers Network started with 7 farms and 250 families in Québec. Today, the network brings together more than 130 farms in Québec and New-Brunswick, who feed 20 000 families every year.

Family Farmers

Your farmers, Benoît Duval and his family, practice organic farming in harmony with nature on the principle of living soils in permaculture. Our land is located in the heart of Lanaudière, in l'Assomption, less than 35 km north of Montreal. This project aims to conserve Quebec's agricultural heritage and provide freshness on our plates, from local biodiversity.

Organic Baskets

We grow 50 types of fruits, vegetables and herbs that we cultivate in different ways to enhance the flavor of our plates! Several of our varieties are ancestral, selected for their unique flavor and rusticity. For example, we produce several varieties of berries, cantaloupe melons, multicolored carrots and purple beans!

Deliveries

The Organic Summer Baskets (regular format at $28 or family size at $56) are delivered each week for 20 weeks, from mid-June to November. The larger Winter Organic Baskets are delivered monthly from November to March, for 5 months total. The winter baskets contain the same vegetables, but with more root vegetables (beets, carrots, turnips) and preserves (garlic, cabbage, onions, potatoes, squash).

We offer baskets of fruit and vegetables, certified organic by Ecocert Canada, which are freshly picked from the farm. Our produce is different from those in grocery stores, because we cultivate ancestral varieties, preserved for their unique flavors and varieties. For more information on delivery locations, product availability, or for any questions on the baskets, contact us by email at info@osaineterre.org or by phone 514-654-2428 or visit us at one of our basket delivery spots. In addition, if you are interested in tasting our products during the year, several markets are organized at Parc Molson and the Angus Market, located south of Parc André-Laurendeau, in the Rosemont-la Petite Patrie neighborhood in Montreal.
